I love the ocean, and when I heard that the Japanese were dumping highly radioactive water into her, I got inspired…

I’m in India in the middle of a 28 day Deepening Course at the Oneness University, and amidst this immersion, the idea of us sending blessings (deeksha) to neutralize the radiation kept jumping into my meditations… my retreat-mates were a unanimous ‘YES!’… and I recorded it. Quite a beautiful thought! It overtook me yesterday, enrolled me in its magic, inviting me to imagine it, giving it power and life…

Dear Friends;

I’ve become involved in The Cove in Taiji, Japan through assisting some conference calls among the activist groups involved there. Its become clear to me that making the fishermen and the Japanese people ‘wrong’ for hunting dolphins doesn’t work… (what you resist, persists…)

Rather, the situation is a call for love.

My heart hears the call and I’ve been guided to go there. I’ll be arriving there Jan 6th. I’m going to be interviewed by a Japanese reporter for my ‘unique’ position on the issue, and have the opportunity to reach a majority of the Japanese people.

What do I wish to say?

Well, once upon a time, I would have said to stop killing dolphins. That was before I knew how polarized people are on this situation, and how offended the Japanese people are by our past actions on behalf of the dolphins, and how any activism on behalf of the dolphins is literally perceived as terrorism against their culture…

Now, I go to do Ho’oponopono, and to share a sacred Water Ceremony there…

Part 1 – Forgiveness thru Ho’oponopono

The village of Taiji has become a focal point for people around the world. The fishermen, the village and the Japanese people have been condemned for the hunting of dolphins and whales. There has been much anger, hatred and separation between people, organizations and cultures. This separation is a reflection of the imbalance within us all.

The first part of the ceremony is taking personal responsibility for the polarization that presently exists and bringing healing through the power of Ho’oponopono.

Thanksgiving is a national holiday in the USA – thank you to whomever made this day a national holiday!

Early Thanksgiving morning I flew from Toronto (brrrr!) to Florida (ahhhh!) and arrived at noon. My sweater came off as soon as I got off the plane, and within 90 minutes I was in the ocean…

The ocean fills me with appreciation… she is so viscerally nurturing, encompassing, embracing, uplifting…

I took my camera into the ocean with me… and filmed this Thanksgiving appreciation! I love sharing my appreciation and I love you!

A realization just dawned on me as I was cutting up a big buttercup squash…

I was harried, wanted to already be eating the squash, not prepping it, and as I went to cut the squash with a big knife on a big wooden cutting board, I paused and remembered that I was not alone and that NATURE was with me…

… I took a deep breath, blessing myself and the squash, and leaned into the knife…

… as it slid so sweetly thru the squash’s firm yellow flesh, I felt the union of lover and beloved, hunger and satiation, knife, Joe & squash… I felt the merging of my hunger and Nature’s reply…

Waves of union sweep over me, thru me, carry me… Nature & Oneness & God… my cells tingling, rolling, swooning…

So full of union, drunk with reverie, I run over here and sit down at the keyboard and start typing…

WOW! …. pure ECSTACY!

Total satiation… the surge has passed, the story shared, now… back to my beloved squash!

It started out as a ‘Tower of Doom’… a blight on the horizon!

Concrete and steel, visible from miles around, a monument of corporate agri-business (at least in my mind)

Then I had an epiphany, a change of heart…

Appreciation ROCKS!!!

I’m totally serious here… it totally does! It shifts your energy in an instant!

You are surrounded by people you love… why not let them know it??? (you don’t even have to say the ‘L’ word!)

My friend Matt called, said let’s go spearfishing! My joy said YES (I love the ocean). It was already mid-afternoon and I was ravenous…

Once I get in the water, I’m typically there for two or three hours, and I burn a few thousand calories. I needed to get some food in me fast…

There was nothing at home to eat, I had to grab something on the way…

On the way, wondering what to get to eat, I was seized by an inspiration…

I grabbed my camera and started filming…

How present are we?

I just got a reminder from my morning smoothie.

Most every day, I blend up a concoction of juice (fresh coconuts picked myself, when I’m in Florida), green powder and spices.

Then I raise my glass and bless it.

Then I chug!

The first couple of swallows go fast. I’m usually hungry, and there’s a reason they call it break-fast.

Back to the blessing; this is a decades old ritual for me. I bless all the ingredients, balance and cancel out any low vibrations in the mix, give thanks to all the plants and food, and invite it fully into me, to energize and activate the cells within me. (Sometimes the vision of the smoothie circulating in my body and blessing my cells is so energizing, I find myself dancing!)

And THEN I gulp.

Sometimes I’m in a hurry, and automatically say the blessing, reciting it as a mantra without any feeling. A part of me (left brain) has been convinced that this rote repeating is (almost) as powerful as when I pause and actually feel what I’m saying.

Its the same with a greeting; they’re either perfunctory, or we bring ourselves fully to the moment, pausing and looking into each other’s eyes.

Its either knowledge or experience, ordinary or divine. Taking that moment is divine.

What happens as we take that moment and truly greet the personalities of our day?
