Suicide Prevention; Helping people feel loved and appreciated through the power of appreciation.

Suicide sucks… Don’t get me wrong, I think its a cosmic pressure-release valve for the poor soul who is struggling with pain, loneliness, despair, but for everyone left behind, it hurts…

My friend Allison Watts shared her town has recently lost three teenagers to suicide, the latest a friend of the family.

I know the fallout of suicide personally, and was inspired to share some tools with the students around suicide prevention by helping people feel loved and appreciated through the use of appreciation.

Allison’s Introduction:

Thank you all for being here and taking time out of your busy lives to be on this call with us. Our intention for this call is to shed some light on the issue of suicide, and to help our community make some positive changes and have some tools for understanding, healing and preventing suicide.

We are honored to have as our guest speaker, Joe Noonan. I have personally known and worked with Joe for 3 years. He is an excellent life coach, who has helped me, my team and my family become better communicators, work together better and grow and understand ourselves and each other better.

I was sharing with Joe the other day what’s been going on in my life and knowing Joe’s story, shared with him about the recent suicides. My family knew ____. My son played hockey with him for years and my daughter was friends with his sister. His suicide deeply saddened us all and brought up all kinds of emotions. I shared the mixed emotions my family and I were having and that our community was really hurting and concerned. He offered to have this call to help us.

Joe understands the effects of suicide personally… Joe’s brother committed suicide when he was a teenager… His family decided to go get some help from a family counselor and it was life-changing for Joe. He says “It’s why I do what I do.” He offered to do this call for us because he believes, as we do, that he can shed some light on this subject and help us as a community have some healing surrounding this issue.

Ho'oponopono Ceremony at The Cove in Taiji, Japan, with holy water from sacred springs around the world.

I love dolphins and am involved in a number of projects to help them. (Do the dolphins really need our help, or is it the other way around….)

Right now the annual dolphin hunting season has resumed in Japan, and emotions are running high for animal lovers around the world.

Its easy to be angry at someone who kills something you love, and having been to ‘The Cove’ and seen the waters run red with the blood of dolphins, I know firsthand the initial flush of rage and righteousness.

But this righteousness comes with a price…

This blog post is not just about dolphins…. as the dolphins dying in the cove have shown me, this is about our judgment of the actions of others, how quick we are to condemn those who break our hearts or our rules of how things should be…

The dolphins showed me something that I did not expect; they showed me compassion, compassion for all people, even those who kill them.

That’s a rather saintly attitude to me, even more evidence of their elevated spiritual stature. Yup, I place dolphins above humans when it comes to awareness, wisdom, playfulness and loving compassion. They inspire me, they are my heroes.

So much so that, last January, as I watched the dolphin hunters drive pods of dolphins into the cove for sale and for slaughter, I opened my heart to the pain and sadness and anger and let it break…

It hurt…

I cried, felt the riotous confusion of feelings we all feel when faced with the death of that which we love…

And in those moments of broken-heartedness, something happened…

As I gave myself fully to the pain and anger and sorrow, let them run havoc through me, tearing and hurting and destroying, I became aware of something else, something quiet and subtle in the background, something bigger than the destruction happening within and around me…

It was not a conscious act, it was not something I could summon or evoke, it was something that I could simply notice, and in the noticing, allow…

It was compassion, and its love encompassed me and the hunters and the dolphins, and it showed me that we are all actors upon the same stage. Different costumes for sure, but undeniably the same cast.

It showed me that we are all one, and the drama playing out before me was the blink of an eye in creation, each actor playing their part so fully they believed them to be true…

Except for the dolphins. They remembered, they knew the greater truth… That they and all of this is but a moment in infinity, and they are free and eternal as is all life…

I came to understand how the dolphins could both struggle to be free of the nets at the same time they surrender into the arms of the fishermen who kill them…

They know what we have forgotten…

Total aliveness, total compassion, complete surrender.

My humanness stood in awe, and in that moment I remembered that we are all eternal, all actors, spiritual beings having human (and dolphin) experiences…

The hatred melted in the warm flood of compassion, my righteousness along with it. Yes it still hurts to see the death of those I love, and my tears are just as real as before. But they are tempered with a greater knowing, a knowing that I once again thank my cetacean friends for helping reveal within me…

I love the ocean, and when I heard that the Japanese were dumping highly radioactive water into her, I got inspired…

I’m in India in the middle of a 28 day Deepening Course at the Oneness University, and amidst this immersion, the idea of us sending blessings (deeksha) to neutralize the radiation kept jumping into my meditations… my retreat-mates were a unanimous ‘YES!’… and I recorded it. Three nukes in Japan out of control…

Human control, that is… not divine control.

At times like these, as I start to get worried, I remember that LOVE is the most powerful force in all Creation…

Always has, always will.

And as all the Saints and Siddhas remind us, EACH OF US is a channel of the Divine. Sometimes it takes a challenging situation to compel us to drop the tiny story of ourselves and to bring our innate Divinity forward into the world.

YOU are God in drag; YOU are a direct manifestation of the Divine, incarnate here on earth.

You are a clear channel of Divine LOVE, thank you for channeling this love to the nuclear reactors in Japan!

Personally, I see God’s hands cradling each of the reactors, calming and neutralizing the radioactivity within… each of us has a healing image that comes to mind… join us in seeing the harmonious resolution of this event…

I just finished reading a friend’s comment from yesterday’s post… James says he’s given up his business (he’d had it for many years) and he’s sitting at home with his cat, uncertain of what to do and waiting for what’s next to become apparent… What courage! He shares that as fear comes up, he breathes thru it…

Breaths thru it, breaths thru it…

I know that breath well; it has saved me a thousand times from the very hounds of hell… it has saved friendships when I took the time to pause, saved countless harsh words from passing these lips…

This breath has brought me peace in the face of danger; real and imagined. It has brought clarity in moments of uncertainty, has given courage in the face of the unknown, when something deep within urged me to step forward and I was unsure…

These days, as the spiritual energies continue to increase and profoundly alter the landscape of our lives, we are being presented with old patterns of judgment and beliefs that cannot go with us into the future… Like ancient family secrets they rear their ugly heads, seeking re-animation or release, release from the cycle of re-activation and knee-jerk response…

One of the simplest ways I have found to safely, consistently and even joyfully surf these intensified energies is with the breath…

Its become instinctive… reading James’ description, I found myself taking a deep breath… just as I’m taking a deep breath right now…

(Ahhhhhhhhh…..)

And as I take this breath; the air going into my lungs mixing with feelings of mindfulness and relaxation, my awareness follows it…

This breath, filled with loving energy, goes into and expands beyond the image of these lungs and this body… propelled by a motion all its own it goes deeper, to a vastness behind the curtain of ‘me’ and ‘you’…

I see the web, a meshed grid of connectivity that extends out of sight… the web of life; the energetic grid behind all form and illusion of separation…

Watching, I see the energy of this one conscious breath adding more light to this already pulsing grid..  I feel the energy of this blessing mixing and adding to the whole… insignificant as one breath might seem to the mind, I watch in awe the difference one breath makes… one drop joining another and another…

OMG… I feel this! This is the grid of our awakening Oneness!

And in inspiration, I take another breath…

… and feel love deepening; feel James and me and you and all of us, feel where we are all connected, all One… from some witness viewpoint I see the grid growing brighter, more vibrant from every… single… act… of love everywhere…

Such is the magic and power of these times, that our every act of love significantly affects everything everywhere… I am in awe of these times, give thanks to the wisdom of taking birth to be here now…

And I take in another… slow… conscious… breath, feel it blessing every… single… cell in this body and beyond…

And what of your… breath… this …day…? How… is… it… blessing you…?

Hello Friends!

Has anyone noticed an intensification of emotion these days?

Like judgment, anger, joy, passion?

As the spiritual energies continue to increase upon our planet, the aspect of our humanness, our ego personality, is the part of ‘us’ that is taking the heat….

And for some of us, its gotten pretty hot lately!

Amidst the highs and exuberance, I’ve also found myself getting more pissed than usual; its taking a concerted effort at times to stop, breath, and come back to center.

It happened again this morning… I was reading a comment that someone posted on one of my Facebook threads last night, asking a question of why hasn’t the work I have done ended the dolphin hunt? I wasn’t sure if it was a sincere question or a bit sarcastic, but I took some a lot of time to give a thoughtful reply…

After I posted my reply, I found the same person had posted similar comments on other FB conversations… As I read them, the sarcasm was obvious… WTF? As I’m reading this and reacting in angry (I felt the sweat pouring from my armpits), a little window pops up and says this person just commented on my reply…

I clicked on the icon and sure enough, another sarcastic comment…on a thread of conversation with over 80 comments.. so his comments have gone into the emails of everyone…

By now my blood is in a boil and my mind is formulating a reply… (I can say it pretty straight!)

Enter another deep breath… enter compassion…

A lot of us are feeling triggered lately, and twice in the past month I’ve been too quick to give someone feedback about the inappropriateness of their actions. Let me get this straight, their actions were totally inappropriate, but my righteous reply only added fuel to the fire…

Knowing this, and remembering the regret of speaking while in reaction,  I let the anger pass, I stop taking his attacks personal, and can then see that this man is obviously upset…

And from this place of compassion, I look up his email address and send him an email telling him I understand he’s upset and that a conversation with 80 comments is the wrong place to use sarcasm…

And then I see my righteousness in pointing out his sarcasm…

Let me be clear – I was totally entitled to call him on his sarcasm. Its just that it would probably have closed the door on any productive communication. So… did I want to be right, or did I want healing?

So I delete the comment about sarcasm… and just acknowledge that he is upset, and extend an invitation to talk…

It doesn’t matter his reply…. What matters is how I feel, and I feel filled with peace and compassion…

As the heat in the kitchen increases, it serves us to respond to our brothers and sisters with compassion.. I invite you to take the five breaths or ten minutes it takes to release your reactions to the triggers around you…

Every time we do, we bring more light into our bodies and our world…

Every single time we do, we strengthen the morphic field of Oneness that is growing in our collective awareness in leaps and bounds…

Last night I read up on what’s happened with the revolution in Egypt these past ten days. It was depressing and inspiring…

Watching the solidarity of the people in the streets filled me with an exhilarating sense of oneness… I could feel their passion… These people demand change now!

Seeing the on again, off again clashes with the police, my stomach tighten… came across several websites with JFK’s quote; “Those who make peaceful revolution impossible, make violent revolution inevitable.”

Then read how, two days ago, the police were giving thumbs up to the protesters… and my spirit soared again.

What is this all about? Ho long will it go on? What does it have to do with me?

Nothing… (Its the other side of the world, dude!)… and everything… Everything, cause we’re one people, one humanity, and the joy, suffering and exhilaration of Egypt is ours as well.

Mubarak has ruled Egypt for 30 years. He’s a violent leader, ruthless and unwilling to give up power.

Sounds like the ego on a bad day…

Whose ego? Ours…. ‘This ego ‘I’ think of as ‘mine’ is part of the same holographic pattern as your ego.

And Mubarak’s.

Let’s face it, ‘we’ (our egos) ALL want to be in control. Our egos all want to dominate, be in charge, top dog… after all, that’s how we feel safe.

A long time ago, I would’ve turned off the TV (now its youtube) and forgotten about events across the world. A few years ago, I wouldn’t have even turned on the TV (didn’t own one). Now, knowing the depth of our oneness, I watch the videos of the revolution online, sit down, take a deep breath, and focus on my heart…

As my awareness settles here in my heart center, it immediately expands… I become aware of a greater sense of wellbeing… and a deeper connection with all life…

As I bask in this wellness, I bring Egypt and her people in…

I notice the tendency to judge Mubarak (Asshole! Dictator! Perp!), and the wellbeing begins to diminish… I smile, knowing that judgment does not flow here… I take another breath and let go…

And the wellbeing return…

As does the image of Mubarak… Hey wait, I hear myself think, I don’t want to deal with this dude, I want to work with the beautiful protesters impassioned with purpose…

But Mubarak stays…

With a sigh, I accept that he is the one for me to work on…

Soon as I do, I understand that he is currently our world’s mirror of our collective ego, the one that wants to control and dominate.

I know that the best thing I can do for my brothers and sisters in Egypt, is to make peace with the greedy asshole dictator within me… I know that as I come to peace and compassion with these qualities within me (us), then he (Mubarak) no longer needs to be front and center.

And so I soften, knowing that we all have some Mubarak, Hitler and Stalin in us… He wouldn’t be in power if we weren’t polarized or in denial of these qualities within us.

Like a gentle breeze, compassion wafts into my awareness, and I soften more… I always soften in the presence of compassion.. as I do, the sense of wellbeing grows…

Mubarak is still there, but he looks different; he’s smaller, a kid, looking down at his feet, shameful…

That within us that seeks power is afraid of love, afraid it will obliterate us, make us no more…

The compassion continues to grow; easily, with such grace, like a cat curling up ever so slowly into your lap…

Mubarak timidly reaches over to the cat, tenatively touches her…

And the cat turns with such grace and licks him, licks his hand, and he flops down beside her, a lonely kid in need of a friend… Compassion is that friend…

I sigh, not quite believing what I’m seeing, and at the same time surrendering to the grace of the moment. In this moment, I have done my part, disarmed the dictator within…

This greedy dictator asshole  is in all of us, it is our ego… as we make peace with this ego within, (simply having compassion for it), we make peace with the ego without.

It is clear to me that Egypt is our heart and Mubarak is our ego. I stand in solidarity with the people of Egypt, and with my compassion, I bring about peace. Join me, it will bring peace…

While in Las Vegas last week one day I noticed that the sky was FULL of chemtrails…

Chemtrails are manmade plumes of questionable origin. While I’ve heard much about them over the years, I’ve not given them much attention, choosing to focus on beauty instead, knowing that love and beauty are the most productive, life-giving qualities in all creation…

But this day, as I looked up at the blatant display of row upon row of aerial spraying, something within me said it was time to face them squarely; to look upon them with deliberate intent…

Before I had time to ask ‘what intent?’, the answer blossomed within me…

Dear Friends;

I’ve become involved in The Cove in Taiji, Japan through assisting some conference calls among the activist groups involved there. Its become clear to me that making the fishermen and the Japanese people ‘wrong’ for hunting dolphins doesn’t work… (what you resist, persists…)

Rather, the situation is a call for love.

My heart hears the call and I’ve been guided to go there. I’ll be arriving there Jan 6th. I’m going to be interviewed by a Japanese reporter for my ‘unique’ position on the issue, and have the opportunity to reach a majority of the Japanese people.

What do I wish to say?

Well, once upon a time, I would have said to stop killing dolphins. That was before I knew how polarized people are on this situation, and how offended the Japanese people are by our past actions on behalf of the dolphins, and how any activism on behalf of the dolphins is literally perceived as terrorism against their culture…

Now, I go to do Ho’oponopono, and to share a sacred Water Ceremony there…
