I’m out of town and need a haircut. A friend suggests a place, next door to the coffee shop where i get wireless.
Went in, two haircutters; one’s busy, the other’s asleep in a chair. That was a clue!
The busy woman wakes him, he motions me to the chair and asks, “Do you want me to take half off?”
“On no”, I say, “Only a third”.
He turns the chair so I face AWAY from the mirror (another clue…!)
I watch as the locks fall, fall, fall. He turns me around. To say he left a third is generous!
He asked what I wanted, then did what he knows. I’m left thinking, how often is it we do what we know?
Every time I look in the mirror, (for the next few weeks at least), I remember that question!
