What happens when you take a group of well intended individuals and you keep mirroring their beautiful ‘yes’ back to them?
That’s what happened at the 14th Annual Wisdom of the Elders conference in Kentucky. It was magical. Offered the opportunity to give a workshop on whatever I wanted, (yes!), I invited people to a dynamic experiment with the power of our collective intention.
Ten said yes.
It was a beautiful day, and we sat outside in a circle around Duane’s big drum. I started with the question “Are you open to the possibility that something powerful can happen during our time together?”
I love this question; it’s simple, direct and sets the stage for magic. It calls forth the best in us; you can feel the energy of the group immediately starting to rise…
As it did this day. I asked each person, one at a time, to voice their yes to the invitation. As we give each person our full attention, we align as a pod, going from ten individual fingers into one unified hand. And we not only observe each other’s yes, we viscerally feel it within us.
A couple of the yes’s were a bit hesitant, and why not? Who knows what we might conjour up! A few were very determined, and we felt the push in their yes, as if they could push past the unspoken reservation that was as of yet unaddressed. They didn’t see it, but the rest of us did. That’s the magic of a group, we get to see ourselves in each other.
And a few said yes with their eyes aglow, raising the energy of the entire group, the high point on a carousel ride.
When we mirrored back people’s individual reservations, some were surprised and all were relieved. We all have resistance in some areas of our lives, and this circle provides the loving mirror for each of us to see where we hold back. How delightful to get this reflection in such a supportive environment!
And so we built up our Yes energy, and one at a time, as we moved thru our unconscious resistance, (sometimes, individuals mirror the group’s resistance, just as kids mirror our tensions) we watched in awe as everyone’s bodies and faces literally lit up. It was like the sun coming out from behind the clouds, and we basked in the beauty.
Syncronicities started happening, ripples of energy moved thru us as one, and laughter sprang forth. We even noticed that the group next to us, which initially felt a little loud and distracting, started mirroring the rise and fall of our laughter.
What a joy to be in such sweet energy. We looked around the circle, saw our yes reflected in a ring of open faces. We sent our love out into the world, into the past and future, and made a covenant to hold the space for this circle on a quantum level. We are a pod, a juicy YES pod!
